Our Mission

The mission of Precious Life is to provide hope and help to young women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Women in the midst of unplanned pregnancies face physical, emotional, financial, legal, social and spiritual hardships. While these obstacles may seem overwhelming, Precious Life endeavors to address these challenges with realistic solutions.

Our History

Precious Life pregnancy care centers began in March of 1985, when a group of concerned individuals met to discuss the need for a pregnancy care ministry that could offer alternatives to abortion and provide support to young women who chose to carry their babies to term.

The beginnings were humble, operating a 24-hour hotline from a borrowed office at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Altoona. In August of 1985, a small home was purchased at 1212 15th Street and services were expanded to include maternity clothes, baby clothes and baby furniture.

Seeing the need for a Maternity Home that could house young women who were displaced from their homes, Precious Life purchased a beautiful home on Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg.  In April of 1988, the Precious Life Maternity Home was officially opened.

In 1993 Precious Life opened an additional office in Bedford, PA. Then in 1996,  expanded again with an office in Johnstown, PA

In 1994 Precious Life purchased a building on 1716 12th Ave., which increased our office space, storage capabilities and provides some additional housing options.

In 2005, Precious Life started a sister ministry in Oradea, Romania.

With three pregnancy care centers, assistance with material needs and educational videos and assistance with housing, Precious Life has grown into a full-fledged, multi-service ministry that can truly meet the needs of those impacted by unplanned pregnancies.
