Earn While You Learn

Sixty-three percent of women who choose abortion make this decision because they are unable to afford a child (23%), would be raising the child as a single parent (8%), are not ready for a child (25%) or feel they are incapable of raising a child (7%).

Often our clients are facing extreme difficulties such as poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, or drug/alcohol abuse. These pressures make it very difficult for a woman or man to choose life for his/her child when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. We give each client the care and attention they need to ensure that they are educated and can make an informed decision about their pregnancy.

The Earn While You Learn program helps to overcome the obstacles for choosing life as an option for mothers and fathers. The educational program includes the basics of pregnancy such as the health of the mother and child, delivery, and the raising of the child. The program is designed to be a “hand-up” and not a “hand-out” system. Mothers and fathers can earn “Care Cash” through the completion of tasks and assignments. The “Care Cash” is exchanged for items in our Pregnancy Care Center stores. Our pregnancy care centers are stocked with supplies that include baby care essentials such as diapers, clothing, and baby furniture.  There is no cost to any woman or man seeking supplies for their children and typically lasts until the child is 2-3 years old.

The Earn While You Learn program allows our staff and volunteers to create a relationship with the expectant mothers and fathers. This relationship offers a support system most of these women and men do not have to address their fears and concerns, as well as celebrate the successes throughout the process. Often our staff and volunteers are the only ‘family’ these women and men have to turn to for guidance.

Your donations will assist us in creating alliances with other organizations within our community to offer incentives to mothers and fathers participating in the Earn While You Learn program, printed material for distribution, training for staff and volunteers, and curriculum materials. Please join us today in helping families choose life.
